Home sellers unknowingly sabotage their own sales all the time. We want to make sure our sellers don’t do that, so we’ve come up with a list of common home selling mistakes that everyone needs to avoid in order to sell for the highest price.

The first thing you should avoid is setting an unrealistic price for your home. Homes that are overpriced tend to sit longer and get fewer showings than the rest. Pricing your home at a price the market will respond to  will help you sell quickly, possibly with multiple offers.

The second thing to avoid is selling without an agent. Agents know the local market, how to market your home effectively, and how to run the entire transaction. You don’t want to try those things alone unless you’re an expert.

Next, don’t skip out on marketing your home. You have to hire an agent who understands the online marketing of today and can do the work to get your home seen out there by tons of buyers online. The internet is where it’s at when marketing homes.

Finally, don’t neglect to make repairs. Buyers judge houses quickly and are quick to point out flaws to drive the price down. If you fix the problems you know your home has in advance, the buyers won’t have any reason to try and drive down the price. A simple $500 fix could end up becoming a $5,000 problem if not addressed early.
